Charlie Dickenson has just completed his services with his Parole Officer as he tells him that he’s moving back to his home town of Washington to start fresh. As he unloads his belongings to into the apartment he runs into Blake who offers to help him and buy a drink to show as a sign of new friendship.

Blake takes Charlie to meet Jake, an old jail inmate he met while in jail. Jake beats Charlie up until he agrees to rob a house or he tells Charlie’s parents that he robbed a bank down in San Diego. Charlie robs the house only to get stabbed by Blake to take the fall and get arrested.

As he sits waiting for his sentence, the officer arrives and tells him that she didn’t find the guy at the place they took him. She releases him and tells him that the owner of the house he robbed drops all the charges. As she lets him go she tells Charlie that she will keep an eye on him and will try to find those guys. Dan Doyal question why would he rob his house and end up being robber when he was in a Peace Corp. Charlie explain that he had no money to come to WA and took the weakest way out and realize that he was becoming like his brother who died in a gang war. He also explains that the guys threatens to tell his parents that he’s also a bad person like their other son and he didn’t want that to happen. Dan offer to help him get his life straight and keep him out of trouble which Charlie agrees to.

Two weeks goes by and Charlie gains Dan’s trust. Dan tells Charlie to open the store next day as he has to get some stuff. Charlie happily accepts. The next morning Charlie notice Jake and Blake robbing the store. Their plan fails since the cash register doesn’t open. So they point the gun at Charlie and demand him to hand them the money. He refuses and when Dan appears, Jake pulls the trigger at Dan only to have Charlie take the bullet. Jake and Blake get arrested while Dan tries to keep Charlie losing blood.
